On the 22nd of April 2008 the patience of a small band of very keen Royal Arch Masons was rewarded by the Consecration of a new Chapter by the M.E Provincial Grand Superintendent, E.Companion John Michael Webb and his consecrating team. It is over 4years since the first efforts of founding a new Chapter in Essex were made by those members of Lodge of Success who were already Royal Arch Masons. Gradually, the number of those interested in being founders grew and eventually, included some of the senior members of the Province. At last the day arrived and a full Provincial Team including the M. E. Grand Superintendent, the Deputy Grand Superintendent, the Provincial 2nd and 3rd Principals, Provincial Grand Scribes 'E' and 'N', Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies and his assistants, the Provincial Grand Sword Bearer and Banner Bearer and Provincial Janitor, gathered at Saxon Hall.

We were also honoured by the presence of the Past 3rd Grand Principal, E. Comp. Peter Hemmingway who was a guest of the 1 st Principal Designate. A superb Consecration ensued with all of the hard work and assistance given in providing instruction by the Prov. D.C. E. Comp. Richard Hance proving worthwhile. A very interesting and informative oration was given by the Provincial 3rd Principal, E. Comp. Ian Gorman. The Consecration completed, the Deputy Provincial Grand Superintendent, E. Comp. Alan Kemp took the chair and proceeded to install the Principals Designate as follows:- 1st Principal, E. Comp. lain Campbell, PAGDC., 2n Principal, E. Comp. John R. Simons, Prov.AGSE., PPGSoj., 3rd Principal, E. Comp. Allan Bryson. Then followed the investiture of the new Chapter officers, during which the 1st Principal asked the 2nd Principal to invest his son as a Steward of the Chapter. The 1st Principal then proposed the members of the consecrating team as Honorary Members, he also including E. Comp. Peter Hemmingway, who appeared most surprised. The proposition was carried with acclamation. After a photo call, organised by Compo Antony Henderson and a short stop at the watering hole, 92 of the 100 plus attending the event, sat down to a very convivial festive board at which all of the usual toasts were honoured. The health of Chapter was proposed by the M.E. Grand Superintendent. The 1st Principal, E. Comp lain Campbell then responded, during which he presented a cheque for £500 towards the 2011 appeal for the Grand Charity to the M.E.Grand Superintendent which was graciously received. We, the members of the Chapter of Success express our sincere thanks to all who made this such a memorable occasion. The Chapter will meet at the Masonic Hall, Chelmsford. On the 4th Tues. in April, the third Thurs. in June and the 2nd Thurs. in Nov. The members extend an invitation to all, particularly those who joined us at the consecration.
